Chairman’s Message

Welcome to Leeds International School.

As I reflect on our journey that began in September 1999—with just 77 students and 16 teachers in a modest leased building in Panadura—I am reminded of the old Chinese proverb: “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” That first step, taken with purpose and quiet determination, has brought us to where we stand today: a family of 16 schools across the Western and Southern provinces, serving over 8,000 students.

LEEDS was driven by a simple but unwavering vision: to provide a quality English-medium education, rooted in Sri Lankan values, and accessible beyond the traditional urban centres. In the early years, this meant taking on challenges others hesitated to face—finding the right teachers, creating safe and inspiring learning environments, and earning the trust of parents who believed in what we stood for.

Today, LEEDS International School offers both the Pearson Edexcel curriculum and the National curriculum in English medium, guiding students from preschool to Advanced Level. But our purpose goes beyond academics. We aim to shape well-rounded, thoughtful, and capable young people—through sports, the arts, leadership training, and character-building experiences. We believe education must prepare children not only for exams, but for life.

Our schools are supported by a team of committed educators, dedicated staff, and an extended community of parents and alumni who have walked alongside us on this journey. I am deeply grateful to all who have contributed to our growth. As we look ahead, I do so with quiet pride and a deep sense of responsibility. The world our children are entering is more complex than ever, and it is our duty to equip them with not just knowledge, but wisdom, resilience, and a sense of purpose. Thank you for visiting our school, and for sharing in our story The journey continues...

Deputy Chairperson’s Message

Welcome to LEEDS International School.

As Deputy Chairperson of the LEEDS Network of Schools, I am proud to be part of a journey that has grown from a single vision into a thriving network of 16 schools across the country.

At LEEDS, we are guided by a deep belief: that education should not only prepare students for exams, but also for life. Over the years, we’ve stayed true to our commitment to quality English-medium education — not just in name, but in everyday practice. Our classrooms are places where children learn to think, to question, to create, and to communicate with confidence in a global language.

While we honor our legacy and the values that have brought us this far, we are equally focused on the future. In today’s fast-changing world, education must be dynamic. That’s why we continue to invest in innovation, in our teachers, and in new learning pathways that reflect the needs of tomorrow — without ever losing sight of what matters most: the growth and well-being of our students.

What makes LEEDS truly special is our shared culture — a sense of belonging, of purpose, and of possibility. Across all our branches, you’ll find children who are encouraged to express themselves, staff who believe in the power of care and consistency, and a leadership team that is deeply invested in every school’s success. We are proud of what we have achieved, but we are even more excited about where we’re going. As we shape the next chapter of LEEDS, our focus remains clear: to provide an environment where every student can thrive — academically, emotionally, and socially — and step into the world with confidence and courage.
Warmly,
