Network Coordination and Leadership Team

The LEEDS network is overseen by a Network Coordination and Leadership Team ( NCLT), that monitors and guides all branch schools. The Network Coordination and Leadership Team is structured around two distinct pillars: Academic and Non-Academic. All academic functions are overseen by the Coordinating Principal, while all operational matters fall under the leadership of the General Manager – Operations.Network Coordination will centrally govern and provide strategic direction for both academic and non-academic areas across the schools. This includes, but is not limited to, Head of Academic, Head of examination, Network HR, Network IT, Network Sports, and Network Finance.Each branch operates with its own management team, with Pre-schools led by Headmistresses and Primary/Secondary schools led by Principals. Additional leadership includes Deputy Principals, General Coordinators, Sectional Heads, and Grade Coordinators

About Mr. Richard Abeysinghe

Mr. Richard Abeysinghe is an Education and Allied Health professional with over 12 years of experience spanning Higher and Secondary Education as well as the US healthcare industry. Throughout his career, he has held leadership roles in academics, health education, curriculum development, accreditation, teacher recruitment and training, and the establishment of clinical training partnerships across both private and government sectors, and has been recognized for excellence in teaching and academic leadership.

Currently serving as the Assistant Coordinating Principal at LEEDS International School, Mr. Richard brings a diverse range of expertise and experiences in academics, teaching, research and management to bear towards strengthening academic support systems, teacher development, and leadership development across the school network.
His academic background in medical engineering, biomedical science, and public health with postgraduate qualifications in Community Medicine complemented by his MBA studies at the University of Colombo brings a unique perspective and approach to the network.

Driven by a passion for student centered learning, professional development, and vocational education, he is committed to supporting LEEDS in nurturing holistic global citizens who are academically driven and professionally aligned.

Mrs. Lakmini Surangi is an accomplished education professional with over 15 years of experience in ICT teaching and academic administration. She has been an integral part of LEEDS International School, Galle for more than 13 years as an ICT teacher and later served four years as the Head of Examinations across the LEEDS network. Currently serving as the Head of Academics and Assessment, Ms. Surangi leads curriculum innovation and assessment strategies, ensuring academic excellence and consistency across all branches. Her passion for integrating technology and quality standards continues to strengthen the LEEDS academic framework.

About Mrs. Rasika Jayatissa

Mrs. Rasika Jayatissa brings 22 years of educational excellence to LEEDS as our Network Coordinator for pre-school to primary education. With a BSc in Education from Aldersgate University, Philippines, and a Diploma in Preschool & Primary Education (Montessori Method), she expertly bridges the gap between early childhood and primary education. Her impressive teaching portfolio includes over 10 years each in pre-school and primary levels, specializing in Mathematics, Science, English, Environmental Studies, and Buddhism. As a seasoned leader, Mrs. Jayatissa has served as Sectional Head for 5 years and Teacher in Charge of Swimming for over 7 years. With multiple teaching qualifications including diplomas and certificates in English for Teachers, Mrs. Jayatissa embodies LEEDS' commitment to nurturing young minds through experienced, qualified educators.

Mr. Binishka Nayanananda brings over 24 years of distinguished corporate and educational sector experience to the Leeds International School network. In his role as Head of Operations – Western Province, he oversees the operational functions of the Leeds branches located within the Western Province, ensuring administrative efficiency, service quality, and operational excellence across the region.
With an Executive MBA and professional qualifications in marketing and management, Mr. Nayanananda applies his strategic knowledge and practical leadership experience to strengthen branch-level operations, improve systems, and support the overall development of the school network.

His career spans leadership roles in educational institutions, facilities management, higher education administration, and financial operations. At Leeds, he plays a key role in operational policy implementation, staff capacity building, process improvement, compliance monitoring, and performance enhancement across the branches under his supervision. Mr. Nayanananda is committed to building positive stakeholder relationships, developing leadership capacity among staff, and ensuring that each branch provides a safe, efficient, and high-quality learning environment for students.
As a member of recognized professional organizations including CPM-SL and AICM-SL, he continues to contribute to the operational success of Leeds International School through strategic planning, innovation, discipline, and a strong commitment to excellence.

Mr. Binishka Nayanananda brings over 22 years of distinguished corporate experience to LEEDS International School network. As General Manager of Operations, he oversees the comprehensive development and optimization of all operational functions across school network. With an Executive MBA and professional qualifications in marketing and management, Mr. Nayanananda applies his strategic expertise to enhance administrative efficiency, service quality, and operational excellence throughout the school network. His extensive career spans leadership roles in educational institutions, facilities management, higher education administration, and financial operations. At LEEDS, he leads critical initiatives ranging from operational policy development to staff capacity building and performance optimization. Mr. Nayanananda is committed to fostering positive stakeholder relationships and developing leadership capacity among staff while ensuring world-class educational environments for our students. A member of prestigious professional organizations including CPM-SL and AICM-SL, he continues to drive LEEDS International School's operational success through strategic innovation and excellence.

About Mr. Arjuna Welaratne

Arjuna Udayakantha Welaratne is a distinguished senior public administrator with 27 years of experience in the public sector, particularly in Provincial Council administration. He is a Special Grade officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service and has held several senior leadership positions, including Secretary to the Southern Provincial Ministry of Education, Secretary to the Southern Provincial Ministry of Agriculture, Secretary to the Southern Provincial Ministry of Health, Secretary to the Governor, and Secretary to the Ministry of Fisheries, Southern Province. He has also served as a Director Board Member of the Southern Provincial Development Authority and Chairman of the Southern Provincial Cooperative Employees Pension Fund.

Mr. Welaratne holds two MBA degrees, a Master of Arts, a Bachelor of Arts, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education. He is also a trained Mathematics teacher, Master Trainer in the public sector, and a Justice of the Peace for the Whole Island. His international exposure covers governance, administration, capacity building, renewable energy, tourism, and public sector development.

About Mr. Chaminda Dharmapriya

Mr. Chaminda Dharmapriya has been an integral part of Leeds International School since its inception in 1999. Beginning his journey as the Finance Manager, he has grown together with the institution and now serves as the Group Finance Controller, overseeing the financial operations of all 18 Leeds school branches as well as the Leeds Campus of Business and Technology (LCBT).

With decades of dedicated service, Mr. Dharmapriya has played a key role in strengthening the financial stability, accountability, and operational growth of the Leeds network. His long-standing commitment reflects not only his professional expertise but also his deep connection to the values and vision of the institution.

For Mr. Dharmapriya, Leeds has been more than a workplace. It has been a platform for continuous learning, professional development, and long-term growth. The trust placed in him over the years stands as a testament to Leeds’ commitment to recognizing, nurturing, and empowering loyal talent within the organization.
