LEEDS International School Ambalangoda embarked on its journey on 2nd January 2009, and in this short span of time, we have made remarkable progress. From academic achievements to victories in sports and extracurricular activities, our school has grown significantly, with a student body that has expanded to 800 students in just over sixteen years.
We are more than just a school. We are a community that celebrates growth, happiness, and the potential of every student. The journey of LEEDS International School Ambalangoda is just beginning, and we look forward to continuing this path of success, happiness, and learning together with our students, parents, and the entire community.
Our History & Profile
Founding and Development
LEEDS International School Ambalangoda was established in December 2008, opening its doors with 59 students and 16 teachers as part of the expanding LEEDS network. As the first international school in the Ambalangoda area, it addressed a growing need for quality English medium education in the region.
From its inception, the school focused on providing a balanced education that maintained high academic standards while nurturing cultural values. This approach resonated with local families, leading to steady growth in enrollment and the continuous enhancement of facilities and programs over the years.
Our Branch Today
Today, LEEDS International School Ambalangoda has flourished into a comprehensive educational institution serving more than 800 students with a team of 54 academic staff. The school offers education from Play Group to IGCSE, preparing students for international examinations while developing their character and talents.
Our School features modern facilities that support both academic and extracurricular development, creating an environment where students can thrive. The school has become an integral part of the Ambalangoda community, known for its academic excellence and holistic approach to education.

Our Play Group and Kindergarten curriculum employs play-based learning methodologies with elements of AMI techniques and thematic learning to develop foundational skills in a nurturing environment.
Primary Education
From Primary 1 to 5, students build strong foundations in core subjects including Mathematics, English, Science, Sinhala, and ICT, complemented by creative arts, physical education, and environmental studies.
