Principal's Message
Leeds International School Galle was founded on 13th September 2000 as the pioneering International School in the district by our visionary leader Deshamanya Dr. Sarath Jayatissa with Late Mrs. H.H. Kumarasinghe as the founder principal. The 25th anniversary of the school was celebrated with grandeur and style this year.
Our school management and staff are highly committed to providing the most rewarding education possible and making the process of learning an enjoyable experience because your child’s education is our top priority!
We are proud to have produced High Achievers in Pearson Edexcel examinations in both ordinary and advanced level in the past 25 years. Not only do they excel in academics but in numerous sports, games and other extra and co–curricular activities at zonal and district meets, ISAC and other tournements as well.
Today, more than ever, we remain committed to providing a well-rounded learning experience that honours our past while embracing the future. With the steadfast support of our Chairman Deshamanya Dr. Sarath Jayatissa, Deputy Chairperson Mrs. Malithi Jayatissa and the Board of Directors, the extremely active Parent community, loyal past pupils, and well-wishers, I am confident that Leeds Galle will stride into the next century with renewed purpose and pride.
Our History & Profile
Founding and Development
LEEDS International School Galle was established in September 2000 as the second branch in the LEEDS network and the very first international school in the Galle district. The school initially welcomed 38 students at its original location on 270 Wakwalla Road, Galle.
As the school’s reputation for quality education grew, so did its student population. In 2016, to accommodate this growth, LEEDS Galle relocated to more spacious premises at No. 86 Ananda Mawatha, Kithulampitiya, Wakwella. This move facilitated expansion to nearly a eight hundred students supported by a team of 60 dedicated teachers.
Our Branch Today
Today, LEEDS International School Galle stands as a premier educational institution in the Southern Province, offering comprehensive education from Play Group to Edexcel Advanced Level. Our School features modern facilities including science laboratories, library, play areas for younger children, and cutting-edge IT labs.
With a current student population of approximately 800 and a staff of 80+ teachers , we maintain an optimal teacher-student ratio that allows for personalized attention. Our school creates a multicultural learning environment that prepares students for global citizenship while honoring local traditions and values.

Early Years Program
Our Play Group and Kindergarten programs follow a play-based curriculum that develops foundational skills, language abilities, and social interaction through engaging, age-appropriate activities.
Primary Education
From Primary 1 to 5, students build strong foundations in core subjects including Mathematics, English, Science, Sinhala, and ICT, complemented by non-core subjects that develop creativity and physical abilities. We welcome prospective families to experience LEEDS Galle in person. School tours are available Monday through Friday by appointment. Please contact our office to schedule your visit.
