On behalf of the International Schools of Sri Lanka (TISSL), Leeds International School once again took pride in organizing the 14th International Schools Karate Championship (ISKC) — marking an incredible 14-year legacy of excellence, discipline, and sportsmanship.
Held on the 25th and 26th of October 2025 at the prestigious Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, this year’s championship brought together the finest karate talent from across the island. Following the International Schools Athletic Championship (ISAC), ISKC stands as the second most-participated sporting event among international school students in Sri Lanka, reflecting its growing prominence and enthusiasm within the TISSL community.

The event reached its pinnacle at the closing ceremony, graced by Mr. Uvindu Jayasinghe, National Powerlifting Champion for five consecutive years, who joined as the Chief Guest, inspiring young athletes with his words of perseverance and passion.
A special highlight of this year’s championship was a unique kata performance by 12 senior karate senseis representing TISSL schools. Their synchronized display of skill, discipline, and mastery captivated the entire audience and celebrated the deep respect for martial arts tradition within the TISSL fraternity.
A total of 18 International Schools competed fiercely for the top honors, demonstrating exceptional talent, teamwork, and determination. Lyceum International School, Wattala emerged as the overall champions, showcasing remarkable consistency and technique throughout the tournament.
Leeds International School remains honored to uphold this proud tradition, providing a platform that nurtures not only athletic excellence but also the values of respect, resilience, and unity among young karatekas across Sri Lanka.
