Welcome to Leeds International School, Maharagama – a vibrant center of learning, growth, and innovation.
Since opening in 2020, we have become one of the fastest-growing branches in the Leeds International School network. We offer a full educational journey from preschool to secondary, following both local and Edexcel curricula. Our modern facilities include science and computer labs, a robotics lab, a home science room, a well-stocked library, and a caring day-care center. An auditorium is also underway to further enrich student life.
We believe in holistic education—combining academic excellence with character development and global readiness. Our students have excelled nationally in chess, karate, and other extracurricular pursuits.

Founding and Development
Founding and Development
LEEDS International School Maharagama was established in September 2020, opening its doors with 41 students and 9 teachers. As the tenth branch in the LEEDS network, it was founded during a challenging time globally but quickly proved the resilience and adaptability of the LEEDS educational model. The school began by offering classes from Play Group to Form 3, with a unique focus on providing both local and international curricula options. Despite launching during the pandemic, the school demonstrated innovation by seamlessly integrating virtual and in-person learning approaches, ensuring educational continuity for its students.
Our Branch Today
Today, LEEDS International School Maharagama serves a growing student population of nearly 500 students with a dedicated team of teachers. The school offers a comprehensive educational pathway with an emphasis on providing flexible academic options to meet diverse student needs and aspirations.
Our School features modern facilities that support both academic and extracurricular development. As one of the main branches in the LEEDS network, Maharagama combines time-tested educational principles with innovative approaches, creating a dynamic learning environment that prepares students for future success in both local and global contexts.

Early Years Program
Our Play Group and Kindergarten curriculum follows a play-based approach incorporating elements of AMI techniques and thematic learning, developing foundational skills in a nurturing environment.
Primary Education
Our developing Primary Programme builds strong foundations in key subjects, including Mathematics, English, Science, Sinhala, and ICT, complemented by Art, Physical Education, and Environmental Studies.
