I am honored to join LEEDS International School, Matugama, as Principal and be part of a community renowned for excellence, integrity, and holistic education within Sri Lanka’s second-largest international school network.

Founding and Development
Founding and Development
LEEDS International School Matugama was established in September 2011 with 61 students and 9 teachers. As the fifth branch in the LEEDS network, it was founded to bring quality international education to the Matugama region. The school initially operated in a smaller facility but soon gained popularity due to its commitment to educational excellence and holistic development. This growth necessitated and move to a more spacious new building , where the school continued to expand its programs and enhance its facilities to better serve the growing student population.
Our Branch Today
Today, LEEDS International School Matugama serves over 300 students with a dedicated team of teachers. The School now features modern facilities including a science lab, computer lab, a dancing room, library and a home science room, all contributing to a comprehensive learning environment.
The school has become an integral part of the Matugama community, known for its balance of academic rigor and character development. Our diverse student body creates a multicultural learning environment that prepares students for global citizenship while maintaining strong connections to local values and traditions.

Curriculum
Early Years Program
Our Play Group and Kindergarten curriculum follows a play-based approach incorporating AMI techniques and thematic learning, fostering early development in a nurturing environment.
Primary Education
From Primary 1 to 5, students build strong foundations in core subjects including Mathematics, English, Science, Sinhala, and ICT, complemented by creative and physical activities. In keeping with global educational trends, we have also introduced Robotics and Mindfulness to support holistic development and future-ready learning.
Secondary Education
Our Form 1-5 program prepares students for IGCSE examinations, with a focus on developing critical thinking, analytical skills, and subject mastery.
